Derwent Skiff 5.5m - Finished Boat
The three images are indicative of the three buoyancy options. One is an open boat with 38L of buoyancy built under the sliding seat. This is down in the bottom of the boat where it is most valuable. The second option is to incorporate well decks in the bow and stern that come up to the bottom of the sheer plank. This adds a lot of buoyancy, again down in the bottom of the boat where it is most valuable but keeps the feel and look of the open boat relatively well intact. The third option is to have the bow and stern fully decked. This is a great option if you plan to tackle quite choppy water. If you add a water shedding V on the foredeck, you can drive be boat hard into waves and have the water stay on the outside.
If you don't have the time or inclination to build your own, you can still enjoy recreational rowing at its best.
We have a limited capacity for making boats, but customisation with timber and colours and deck arrangements etc are possible. The price listed is the base price and options and delivery add onto this. Please contact allan directly at allan@wittdesign.com.au or on 61 3 6273 0254 to discuss you needs. Occasionally a boat will be make by a retired master craftsman - at his leisure - and made available. If you would like to know when such a boat is about to be ready, please let us know.
